Cayla
Cayla hails from a small island in the Straits of Mackinaw. She spent most of her childhood in the woods, on the beaches and in the sucker streams. After high school she worked a season in the kitchens of Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon, but she craved another form of work, preferably outside and with plants. She eventually fell into farming internships and after her first season in Oregon, she knew this was her dream career. Cayla hopes to someday support herself, and her small island community with fresh produce throughout the year. Her interests include hiking, photography, happy healthy chickens, lacto-fermentation, charcuterie, and cheese making.
