Casey

Casey hails from Pennsylvania, moving to Michigan three years ago to work at a local nonprofit in SE Michigan, Growing Hope. It was here that she acquainted herself with the local farming community and became interested in the OFTP. She has years of experience homesteading and gardening, an interest that started with the hand-me-down knowledge of her parents. Growing up watching her Father build their home and helping her Mother tend to the tomatoes and chickens left a long lasting impact on her.

In the years after completing her undergrad, she worked on the front line of nonprofits in programmatic positions and then slowly migrated to the administrative side of things. She soon realized that she missed having her hands in the dirt and decided to apply to the OFTP.

She is incredibly excited to join the 2014 cohort and is looking forward to learning about growing specialty flowers, tractor maintenance and raising pigs.
